Arnetra Faye Beckham passed away peacefully on December 2, 2024 at her new home in Aurora, Colorado. She was born on September 23, 1960 in Los Angeles, California to Amos Talbert and Pshyra (Scott) Talbert.
She grew up in California where she enjoyed her family and cultivated a supportive and loving community of friends, who became family. Southern California is also where she raised her only daughter, Lexi.
Arnetra was a vivacious, caring and fierce woman, with a warm beautiful smile and tender heart. She soaked up all that life had to offer. From vacationing in Hawaii with close friends, listening to music at her favorite Temecula winery, or catching up with friends and family on the phone, she always enjoyed every moment life had to offer. She didn’t need extravagance; if there was laughter, fun, and great company, she was happy. Arnetra knew how to live life and have fun. Weekend nights were always full of plans and she was always there for her friends.
She selflessly cared for those around her, such as her Aunt Rowena Faye Scott, from whom her middle name hails, and she will forever be known as her “Pumpkin.” She was sister to friend, Robbie Hill-Morrison, and was there every step of the way through her battle with cancer. But most importantly, Arnetra had many daughters that called her “mom” because of her loving and nurturing spirit. Many of Lexi’s’ friend’s growing up called her “Mama A” or “Mama Beckham” because she was a mother, and a friend to so many.
Arnetra cared passionately and deeply for her family, moving just recently to Aurora, to be closer to her daughter Lexi and her husband who of course she considered her “son” Aric Ferguson, and her three granddaughter’s Kennedi, Kayden and Faith. Whether it was a weekend stay at grandma’s, cooking breakfast, watching cartoons or playing in the backyard, they were the lights of her life. To be raised and guided by the strength and love of her own mother, Pshyra, it gave Arnetra all the joy and gratitude in the world to lay witness to her daughter, raise and nurture her own daughters. Four generations of women and girls, embodying God’s grace and unwavering love.
Arnetra leaves behind her mother Pshyra (Scott) Garnder and her husband Robert; daughter Alexis (Beckham) Ferguson and husband Aric; grandchildren Kennedi, Kayden, and Faith; Aunts Rowena Faye Scott and Aunt Deniece Barnett – Scott; sister Gail (Talbert) Wells; brother Brandon Talbert and wife Wendy; First Cousins Patrick Scott and wife Curtrice and Jeremy Scott; Goddaughter Ari Johnson and husband Zach; half-children Brandy Robinson and Aeron Beckham; close friends/ sisters in love Lynnette Francis, Agatha Goudeau, and Edith Belcher; as well as a large extended family and numerous friends in California and Colorado.
Arnetra was preceded in death by her father Amos, and her sister Robbie Hill-Morrison.
A celebration of life for Arnetra will be held Monday, December 16, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Chapel, 407 Jerry Street, Castle Rock, Colorado 80104.
