Anthony Angelo Damiano Sr. (Tony) entered his heavenly home on April 14, 2022, in Castle Rock, Colorado. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on May 7, 1946, the youngest of five children, to Angelo Damiano and Concetta Rizzo. Tony’s young years were spent in Long Island, NY where he excelled in soccer and band. After serving his country in the United States Navy from 1964-1970, he met and married Lee Ann Kozicki, the love of his life in 1970. In 1971 they were given the opportunity to move from New York to Colorado and began their life’s journey together. They added three children, Kimberly, Tony Jr., and Laurie to Colorado’s population.
Tony was passionate about soccer and spent 30 years coaching through various organizations, winning a State Championship once as well as achieving a C license from the United States Soccer Federation. He was the consummate gardener. If you asked him, “What do you love to do in the summer,” he would answer, “Just work in the garden.”
His greatest pleasures were to see the family come together for a spaghetti and meatballs dinner, to have the annual ravioli making ritual with all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, to have a cup of espresso in the quiet mornings in his garden, and to spend time with his much-loved fur baby, Mia. He enjoyed watching the Broncos and of course, any game pertaining to the World Cup. At 75 years old he got his first tattoos, “la Famiglia” and a cross. He wanted to be remembered for his love of Jesus, his family, and his country.
Tony is survived by his wife, his children Kimberly (Jay), Tony Jr. (Debbie), Laurie (Stephen). He is also survived by his grandchildren Audrianna (Brandon), Alyssa (Conor), Emma, Lily, Ava, Jack, and James, two great-granddaughters, Ella, and Brenna, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, Compassion International, or a charity of your choice.
A Celebration of Tony’s Life will be held on Wednesday, April 27th at 10:30 a.m. at Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Chapel, 407 Jerry St., Castle Rock, CO 80104. A reception will follow immediately.
A private interment ceremony will be held at Fort Logan Cemetery.
