Nita was an only child. She was fondly called Junebug by her father growing up. She had aspirations to go to college after high school, but ended up entering the work force. She obtained an entry-level secretarial position at East Systems of Garland. TX, Inc. She worked here for 25 years. At the end of her career at East Systems, she had progressed to the Secretary of the Vice President of Special Projects and managed a pool of 25 secretaries.
Nita met Jerry out dancing one night while on vacation. She said yes to a dance after not dancing with anyone else that night They pursued a long distance relationship for a little over 3 years before she moved to Colorado. She transferred to Martin Marietta and continued her professional career for another 16 years. They were married on a hillside on their property in 1990 surrounded by family and friends. She loved being called the little yellow rose of Texas by Jerry.
They enjoyed visiting relatives in Arizona, California and Texas. Nascar became a past-time and they frequented races in Arizona and Las Vegas, NV. They have many fond stories of cruising around their property on snowmobiles, horses, and the Old Chevy which got stuck on the mountain side several times. Nita's greatest passion was her family, especially her daughters and grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her granddaughter Taylor; parents: John Harrill Rattan and Mary Jane Rattan
Anita is survived by her husband Gerald Lehnerz; children: Dacquri Freeman, Paige Norton; step-children: Gregg Lehnerz, Gayleen Wauer; grandchildren: Michael, Jesse, Sheileigh, Trinity, Bailey, Cassandra, Jacob; and 2 great-grandchildren: Jaxson and Rowyn.
Visitation for Anita will be held Wednesday, December 18, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Olinger Andrews Caldwell Gibson Chapel, 407 Jerry Street, Castle Rock, Colorado 80104.
Funeral service will occur Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM, 407 Jerry Street, Castle Rock, Colorado 80104.
Graveside will occur Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 880 E Wolfensberger, Castle Rock, Colorado 80109.
