Susan Marie Brummitt Roth

Susan Marie Brummitt Roth, age 72, died peacefully at her home in Cary, NC on May 12, 2017. She was surrounded by many of her family. She was born in Denver, CO to Leroy David Brummitt, a career U.S. Army officer, and Mary Adeline Brummitt, born O’Connor. She spent her entire life travelling all over the world, first as an Army dependent, and then as the wife of a career Marine Corps officer. She never complained, and took each new assignment as another adventure. She graduated from Saint Joseph College in Emmitsburg, MD in 1966, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition. She also participated in Army ROTC, and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant upon graduation, and served as a Dietitian. She worked as a Dietitian for almost 35 years in various hospitals and public health departments, depending on where her husband was currently stationed. She received numerous awards and accolades for the professional and caring manner in which treated her patients.

Susan Marie was an outgoing, fun-loving person, living life to its fullest with family and friends. She loved music and loved to dance, and most often was the last to leave the dance floor. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, and occupied much of her life ensuring the health and well-being of her children and grandchildren. She truly enjoyed nature’s beauty: her flowers, the many birds that came to her feeders, the lake behind her house with its many water fowl, and the ocean, which offered many opportunities for family get-togethers.

She is survived by her husband, Michael, her son, John David and daughter-in-law, Susan of Denver, Colorado, her son, Joseph Michael and daughter-in-law, Theresa, of Ashburn, Virginia, two granddaughters, Sierra and Alexis, and four grandsons, Brendan, Jacob, Joshua, and Nicholas. She is also survived by her sister, Ann and her brother, John, both of Hilton Head, South Carolina.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 28 at 6:00pm at 118 North Drawbridge Lane, Cary, NC. There will be a reception to follow. Please park at 120 Fallsworth Dr, Cary. Shuttle service will be provided.
