Sonia Solis Sauri

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sonia Solís Saurí on November 14, 2024, at the age of 80. Sonia was born on March 13, 1944, to Felix Solís Rivera and Leonor Saurí Lebrón, in Humacao, Puerto Rico.

Sonia was known for her strong will, love and dedication to her family, and support to her neighbors. She was an extraordinary daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother.

She worked outside the home for 10 years, and as a fiercely dedicated home manager until the end of the pandemic when her life began to slow down. Sonia was an outstanding cook, baker, maker, gardener, and animal lover. Often taking care of those stray animals who showed up at her door.

Sonia was preceded in death by her father, Felix, her mother, Leonor, her youngest son Felix D. Laboy Solís, her siblings Irma López Saurí, and Oscar Solís Saurí, and her niece Mayra Solís Viera.

She is survived by her daughters Johanne Laboy and Jeannette Laboy; her son David G. Laboy; her husband of 58 years, David Laboy Cardona; her sons-in-law Carl Schick and Mauricio Hernandez; her grandchildren Austin Schick, Paulina Eagan, and Alexabelle Schick; brother Jaime Lopez Saurí; sister Nerida Solís Saurí; and numerous loving nieces and nephews including Sandra Solís Viera, Luis Oscar Solís Viera, and Javier Solís Medina.

Private family services are under the direction of Brown Wynne of Cary. Sonia's final resting place will be at Pax Christi Cemetery in Humacao, PR. The services in Puerto Rico to be announced at a later date.
