It is with profound sadness that the family of Scott Gardner shares his passing on June 20, 2024 in Raleigh, NC. Scott was born May 12, 1970 in Macon, GA. Scott lived in Cary, NC and was survived by his mother, Susan Ponder (Miguel) Delgadillo; sister Barbara M. Williams (Jennifer M. Metz); nephews, Braxton (Addie Dixon) Williams and Cameron Williams, Scott’s uncle Bruce (aunt Sharon) Ponder. Extended family members are Lorie Korenstra (Tracey), Kevin, Lara and Patrick Tracey and girlfriend, Anne Wall.
Scott’s technical abilities exceeded expectations and enabled him to continuously excel. This attribute followed his Army military career and serving in the Gulf War as evidenced by his numerous awarded medals and commendations. Scott’s love of music, concerts and friends spanned continents. He was nostalgic and loved to collect keepsakes as memories of his time spent with family and traveling. Scott’s outgoing personality allowed him to make life-long, meaningful friendships. If you ever talked with Scott late at night or have been unexpectedly added to a group call, you know exactly what we mean. His lifelong friendships are too numerous to be named. Scott genuinely wanted all of his family and friends to be friends.
In lieu of flowers, cards etc., the family requests contributions be sent to WUNC North Carolina Public Radio in Scott’s name at 129 Friday Center Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27517—800.962.9862.
A brief Memorial Service for his inurnment and military honors will take place at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 26, 2024 at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, 962 Old US Highway 70, Black Mountain, NC 28711.
A Celebration of Life will be planned in the coming months so that everyone who knew him may share stories and happy memories of Scott. Memorial tributes and messages for the family can be left in the "Add a Memory" box below. Brown Wynne of Cary is honored to serve the Gardner family.
