Rita Corcoran passed away peacefully on November 9th following an illness of several months. Rita was the second child of Charles and Louise Pekar. She was born on August 2nd, 1934 and was raised in the Cleveland area.
Rita had a variety of jobs early in life, and it was while working at Bertin Terrazzo in Cleveland that she met her future husband Bill. They married on January 6th, 1962 and enjoyed 57 wonderful years together. Rita served as the bookkeeper and admin for Corcoran Tile and Marble for 40 years as the company grew to employ up to 65 workers.
Rita was a devoted mother to her son Brian, participating as den mother for his Cub Scout activities and taking him to a variety of sporting events and band outings.
Rita and Bill loved to travel, and every year they were off to somewhere new having adventures. Highlights included trips to Alaska, the Mediterranean, Australia, and a cruise around southern South America. She and Bill instilled their love of cruising on Brian and daughter-in law Christie and took them on four wonderful family trips.
Rita and Bill moved to Cary in 1998 to be closer to their grandsons Kevin and Kyle, who they adored. Rita and Bill played a lot of golf together as well, and traveled to many local events while enjoying their retirement. They moved to the SearStone Retirement Community in 2013 and made many, many new friends.
Rita is survived by son Brian, daughter-in-law Christie, grandsons Kevin and Kyle, niece Linda and her husband Lenny, extended family the Trottnows – Diane, Karl, Matt, Nick and Abby, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Bill, sister Louise, nephew Alan, and parents Charles and Louise.

The family will receive visitors an hour prior to the Mass.
The family would like to thank the staff of Brittany Place in the SearStone Retirement Community for the wonderful care they provided. They became like family during a very difficult time. They would also like to thank Rita’s home care helper and dear friend Nicole Prevete for her assistance and friendship.
