Priscilla was born on August 9, 1946 in Jamaica, New York, daughter of the late James and Stella Vanarthos. Raised in Queens and Long Island, she attended Pace University in New York City while working as administrative assistant and later executive secretary at Irving Trust. She worked there and at other various other jobs until her marriage on June 30, 1974 to Thomas Hoffman. Soon thereafter, they started their family and Priscilla became a full-time stay-at-home mom until 1988.
In 1988, Priscilla and Tom moved to Cary, North Carolina and founded Advanced Audio, a successful 20+-year business in Salt Box Village on Kildaire Farm Road providing high-end audio equipment.
Priscilla was a loyal and devoted wife and mother, a loving sister, and proud aunt. She was a humble servant, faithfully serving her immediate and extended family, her church family, her friends, and her Lord. She will be deeply missed.
A celebration of Priscilla’s life will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home at 200 SE Maynard Rd, Cary, NC 27511 on Saturday, September 22nd. The family will receive friends commencing at 2 o’clock pm with the memorial service following at 3 pm.
Priscilla is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Thomas Hoffman; son Gregory Hoffman and wife Nicole; daughter Jessica Hoffman; mother-in-law, Audrey Nielsen; brother William Vanarthos and wife Jill; brother-in-law Robert Hoffman and wife Stella; nieces Olivia Cianca and husband Joshua, and Madalyn Vanarthos; and a host of other relatives whom she loved dearly.
Flowers are welcome or memorial gifts may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation or to Samaritan’s Purse to aid victims of Hurricane Florence.
