Dr. Abraham is survived by his wife of 48 years Mrs. Achamma Philip (Ramani), his son Mr. Teebu Philip and his wife Rachel Philip. He is also survived by his siblings Mr. P.A. Uthup and Mr. T.A. Abraham, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Prior to moving to the USA, Dr. Abraham lectured at Union Christian College, Alwaye, India. Both his UC college students and friends affectionately called him ‘Philip Sir’. In 1979 Dr. Abraham graduated with a PhD in Biochemistry from North Carolina State University. He then worked as a senior research scientist at the Research Triangle Institute for 37 years.
Dr. Abraham and Ramani were one of the first Malayalee families to settle in North Carolina. He had an active presence in the state’s Kerala community and was a well-respected member of the Saint Gregorios Indian Orthodox Church in Raleigh. Always vibrant and a joy to be around, Dr. Abraham was a loving father and husband known for his many hobbies, including being an avid reader.
The Abraham family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Brittany place of Searstone Retirement Community in Cary for their personal and attentive care.
