Born in Knox County, Tennessee she was a daughter of the late Fred and Dovie Simpson. She was preceded in death 8 siblings and her husband, Charles R. Garrett.
Nancy was retired from the Raleigh Police Department as a records specialist...a job she thoroughly enjoyed. She has been a faithful member of Athens Drive Baptist Church for 43 years where she shared her love for children in the nursery department. A survivor of breast cancer, she was a devoted, loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who shared her love unconditionally with her family and shared, with all who knew her, her strong Christian faith. Nancy was always there for each of her children providing her love and support throughout the years. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren became her heart, and they were her pride and joy.
Nancy is survived by her son, Randy Bittle of Raleigh; daughter, Robynn Smith and husband Doug of Cary; son, Stanley Bittle and wife Carolyn of Garner; grandchildren, Kristen Klingenmaier and husband A.J. of Holly Springs, Ryan Smith of Durham, Sarah Smith of Raleigh, Ashley Bittle of Cary, Meghan Bittle of Cary; great grandchildren, Quinn, Riley and Henry Klingenmaier of Holly Springs
