My brother and I were befriended by Mike when we were young fans when he played for the Roanoke Buckskins in the early 1970s.  He was an amazing guy -- generating respect and memories that have lasted for over 45 years.  He set a wonderful example as a role model -- both as an adult and as an athlete to two youngsters.  Please accept our condolences and prayers for your family.

Gosh, I just heard about this and am shocked.  Mike and I were both in the London Central High School of 1964 where he was a star of the football team and a great classmate.  His warmth and friendship will be greatly missed by all of his fellow Bobcats.

I just learned of Mike's passing today. So sorry for your loss.  Mike was a great person and always had a smile on his face when he came into the pharmacy.

Our members had come to enjoy Mike as a valued friend and many sought his counsel. He will be missed.

I am shocked and saddened to learn of Mike's home-going. Our paths crossed many times but most of the time at Neighbor2Neighbor for Jobs for Life classes. He was an inspiration and example for all. May the Lord fill you with His love, peace and comfort.

I was lucky enough to know Mike at STI, and accompany him on some customer calls. It was those moments, going back and forth to those meetings, that he shared so much about himself and his philosophy that I will remember, and that continue to shape me and my career. I consider myself very lucky to have had those times.

It has been an honor to know and serve Mr. Shook and his family over the years.  His outgoing personality, warmth and smile made his visits to our restaurant special for me and my staff.  He made my day a little brighter every time I had a chance to talk with him. We will all miss that extra special feeling he brought to each of us. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Shook family.

My prayers go out to Mike's family. In the short time I knew Mike it was clear he was a light to those around him in business and in faith. May his light continue to shine in the inspiration he left in those around him.

Deepest condolences to the Shook family. I had the great fortune to work with Mike as a marketing/communications contractor to Strategic Technologies. I learned a lot about management and how to treat people from the way he went about his everyday business. He was a leader, but didn't make you pay for it; a person who made you happy to be alive and working with him. I hope the good memories will lighten the burden on his family and friends.

Spent a great 4 years with in and just recently had connected again. I will miss him very much and will always consider him one of my true Hero's. Tanya, I didn't know Mike, but I love reading what a wonderful and giving man he was.  I so loved being with you during Vine Life days and getting to know what an extraordinary woman you are.  I am praying for you and your family as you grieve this terrible loss.

Love, respect, integrity and honour, these are the only words that come to mind when thinking about Mike. He introduced my Mother to his parents, and the abundance of love he had for his family was never more evident. I witnessed many sides of Mike Shook, none where weak or doubting, whilst his family were closest, he cherished deeply friendship of those friends close to him. You had to be prepared to hear him holler with passion, and put an arm around you, that was Mike, never distant, never false, just pure love of life and friends.

Tanya, Having only had the pleasure of being around Mike on several occasions I didn't know him like most of the people commenting. I have read every entry and now I know why you love this wonderful man so much. He gave himself to others as well as his family with so much love & kindness. He will be greatly missed by everyone. You two were quite the couple who lived as great examples to all that know you. I agree that his legacy will be his family & all of the lives he touched and changed for the better because of knowing him.  Love you

Mike, I feel very fortunate to have run into you in the Gym a couple months ago and I had the opportunity to share with you how much I appreciated the opportunities you gave me.  We talked about STI and I told you how much you were loved there.  You built something magical with a group of awesome people, but you were our beloved leader, teacher, coach and most importantly our friend.  To just say you will be missed, is such an understatement, as you have touch and influenced so, so many lives.   You may have left us, but you will live on in the hearts of those who knew you. Mike was my "Little" brother in Sig Eps at North Texas State.  I am so saddened by his passing without us getting together again.  We lost touch after I got back from Vietnam and out of the Marine Corps...and moved overseas.  I always knew Mike was much more than a great football player...I'm just so sorry that I'm only now finding out just how great a man he was and the impact he has had on so many lives.  My true joy is in knowing that he knew The Lord and that I will get to see him again....someday!

So sorry to hear of Mike's death, but so enlightened and encouraged from reading his obituary.  Mike and I were a classmates and fraternity brothers at North Texas State in the mid to late 60's.  He was always a good friend and a great leader.  I am not surprised at all of his business successes.  I will lift Mike's family up in prayer as they mourn the loss of their wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

Mike was a leader to many, a mentor to me and most importantly a friend. I worked for Mike for 12 years and I learned an incredible amount. It would be hard to measure the tremendous impact Mike had on my life. I would not be the person I am today without the time I spent with him. Mike was a truly devoted husband, father and grandfather.  I never saw him without a smile and warm hug or firm handshake for every person he met. So saddened hearing of Mike's death this morning.  He was a great friend going back to London Central High School in England.  He will also be remembered for many interceptions on the North Texas "Mean Green" football team.   He has taken his light into another room.

Mike was one of the most honest, inspiring, and loyal people I have had the pleasure of knowing. Dear Shook Family - I am grateful for the chance I had to work with Mike when STI merged with Consonus. Mike and I had some great times on a couple of road shows. Mike always made work more pleasant by his upbeat and positive attitude. My life was blessed for having known Mike. May God be with his family at this time.
