Linda was born October 29, 1941 to James and Emmalou Wright of Ogden, Utah. She was preceded in death by her parents, her twin sister, Laura Wright Sells and her brother, James Wright.
Linda graduated from Clinton High School in Clinton, Indiana where she played French horn. She went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Purdue University where she and her twin sister Laura were members of Pi Beta Phi and sang with the Purduettes. She was married to Sherwood R. Zimmerman on September 13,1963. As a Navy wife, Linda made a home for their children, Mark and Amy in Charleston, South Carolina. They moved to Cary, North Carolina in 1972 where Linda was a school teacher at Henry Adams Elementary School. Linda enjoyed traveling and visited 49 of the 50 United States. She loved trout fishing in Idaho and worked as a trail guide on a dude ranch in Warm Springs, Idaho in high school. She and Sherwood retired to Idaho and had a cabin near Yellowstone National Park. She was actively involved in First United Methodist Church, Cary where she sang in the choir, worked at the Dorcas Ministry and served in a variety of roles in the church. She was also a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Linda is survived by her husband of 59 years, Sherwood Zimmerman, her son, Mark and his wife Sherri, her daughter, Amy Nesbit and her husband Mark, as well as her grandchildren Matt, Parker and Maggie Zimmerman and Cameron and Josh Nesbit along with many nieces, nephews and special friends who loved her.
A Memorial Service for Linda will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 3pm with a reception to follow at First United Methodist Church, 117 S Academy St, Cary, NC 27511.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Linda’s memory to the First United Methodist Church Choir, 117 S. Academy St, Cary, NC 27511.
