Kyler was born on March 28, 2000 in Raleigh, NC to Sherry Bailey and John Bailey. He will be remembered by all who knew him for his heartfelt way of connecting with people and experiencing the world. He valued quality time with his loved ones, treasuring his weekly movie tradition with his Mom, weekend trips to new cities with his Dad, and binge watching TV shows with his girlfriend, Alex. Those close to Kyler knew him to be both a kind-hearted and mischievous soul who loved to lift spirits with a thoughtful word, a warm embrace, or a practical joke. He gave the best hugs and expressed his compassion and strong sense of justice without reservation.
Kyler’s passion for linguistics, which he studied at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, drove his spirit and creativity. He spoke French which he appreciated practicing with anyone willing. He enjoyed listening to and creating music of many genres with Camden Lee, whom he considered to be his brother. Some of his own music can still be found on Spotify under the artist Kyler B. He also enjoyed writing, reading, and watching video essays to expand his knowledge of the world and of others. One of Kyler’s proudest accomplishments was earning his black belt in Taekwondo, a symbol of his dedication and determination. Another of his hobbies, helping others with computers and technology in their home, blossomed into a career in Information Technology. Kyler was thrilled to have recently been hired full-time at Lenovo as a Technical Support Specialist. He was beloved by customers who valued his assistance, often writing to Kyler’s team and managers to express their appreciation. In addition to his work and music, Kyler enjoyed volunteering at SAFE Haven for Cats, especially on surgery days where he could offer a helping hand in the operating room. It was from SAFE Haven for Cats that Kyler and Alex recently adopted a sweet, three-legged cat named Ava who loved to sleep at Kyler’s feet while he worked. Kyler was a deeply caring and thoughtful son, brother, partner, and friend. His absence will be felt deeply by those who love him.
Kyler's heart was filled with a richness of pursuits and deep connections, yet amidst it all, he carried a profound longing for his beloved younger sister Kamryn, whose passing fifteen years ago left a void that could never be filled. He will be laid to rest alongside her.
He is preceded in death by his younger sister, Kamryn Bailey, and great-grandparents Carson and Vada McDaniel, William and Ernestine Kellerhals, and Ellen Virginia Day.
He is survived by his mother and father, Sherry Bailey of Cary and John C. Bailey (Jenay Pfeifer) of Galion, OH; sisters Karsyn Bailey (Alan Menezes) and Kathryn Bailey (Ali Ahmed); girlfriend Alexandra Coleman; maternal grandfather Obie Ballard and step-grandmother Susan Ballard; maternal grandmother Sharon Barrow; paternal grandparents Anne and Paul Bailey; great-aunt Dianne McDaniel; Uncle Jeff Ballard (Deanna Creech); Aunt Angela Bailey; Uncles Jason (Annalynn) and Ryan (Lacy) Bailey; and several cousins and other family members.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be donated to Kamryn’s Smile Fund with the Carolina Dance Foundation or SAFE Haven for Cats.
