Kitty was born in Birmingham, AL, on October 4, 1947, to Byron and Betty Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Grace Sleeman, her brother Tom Brown, and her husband Chuck Herrin.
Kitty earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Alabama, and her Ph.D. in sociology from North Carolina State University. Kitty served in various state government positions as a statistician, retiring from the Tuberculosis division of the NC Department of Health and Human Services in 2014.
Kitty is survived by her brother Bob Brown; two children, Chris Herrin and Heather Herrin Wong; and three grandchildren, Samantha, Matthew, and Nora.
The family will receive friends Monday, November 19th from 6-8pm at the Brown-Wynne Funeral Home of Cary, 200 SE Maynard Rd. A service of death and resurrection will be held Tuesday, November 20th at 2 pm at First United Methodist Church Cary, 117 S. Academy St. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park.
