Jeanie K. McGrath

Our mum and friend to many, passed away peacefully October 27, 2015. She will always be remembered for her uplifting and caring personality. She was an inspiration to many. Born in Paisley, Scotland on August 22, 1941, she was always the caregiver, helping to bring up her two sisters. After marrying at the age of 17, she went on to have four boys to rear, and did so with gusto. She immigrated to the US in 1963 with dad and two of the boys to “live the American dream”, and her, dad, and we boys have been doing so ever since. Dad left four short years ago and mum, as hard as she tried, could not be the same without him. So it does our hearts good to know that they are now reunited.

Mum’s greatest joy in life was of course her family. She is survived by her four sons, John McGrath and wife, Zulma of Cary; Thomas McGrath and wife, Elda of Cary; Mark McGrath and wife, Nancy of Cary; Gary McGrath and wife, Chongsuk of Pittsboro; one unofficially adopted daughter, Anita Barrello; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Catharine Vazquez and husband, Jaime; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road in Cary, NC 27511, from 6PM-7:30PM with a service at 7:30PM. Funeral mass will be held Friday, October 30, 2015 at 11AM, St. Michael's Catholic Church, 804 High House Road, Cary, NC 27513.
