Janet Bailey McBride died Friday, January 13, 2023. She was born July 17, 1928, in Coldspring, NY to the late Honorable James Wilson Bailey and Minola McClary Bailey. After graduating from Drew Seminary in 1945, she attended Goucher College in Towson, MD. Janet married her West Point sweetheart B. Ransom “Mac” McBride in 1947 and began her journey as an Airforce Officer’s wife. Their military assignments took them to Japan, England, Iraq, Italy, Turkey and various duty assignments in the United States. Janet finished her college degree in History at the University of Hawaii in 1969.
Through out her life, Janet dedicated her time to serving the church and volunteer work with the Red Cross, and Dorcas Ministries for over 30 years. She was also a member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) for 10 years. Assisting her husband, she contributed to Publications for the North Carolina Genealogical Society.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Ransom B. McBride, and son, James B. McBride.
She is survived by her four children, Douglas R. McBride and wife Elaine Malina, Stuart K. McBride and wife Marlena, Kyle W. McBride and wife Kathleen, Nancy M. Yoash and husband John; six grandchildren, Kyle, Sean, Carolyn, and Brendan McBride, Christie and Trevor Yoash.
A memorial service will be held at 11am Friday, January 20, 2023, at First United Methodist Church, 117 S Academy St, Cary, NC. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.

Janet had a rich and full life, packed with decades of love and laughter. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. The pain of loss always comes eventually. It is the price we pay for love, and it’s worth all the sorrow and tears. She will surely be missed.
