Jimmy’s life was filled with the joys of family, art and sports. Jimmy is survived by his wife of forty years Cheryl Miller Brown; he was a caring father to Jason Brown (Caitlin Penry) and Connor Brown. Jimmy is survived by his brothers David Brown (April) and Charles Brown (Diana), Nephews Kevin and Cory.
Jimmys love for travel and sports brought him to so many amazing places. Whether it was teeing off on a picturesque golf course, conquering a challenging hiking trail, gliding down the slopes with his family, Jimmy found joy and exhilaration in so many outdoor pursuits. Moreover, his allegiance to everything NC State, and particularly football, was a testament to his loyalty and pride in everything that he did.
His interest in building systems led to his career in Engineering. Jimmy was a design engineer and project manager for several companies including Stanford White, NC Department of Forestry, Research Triangle Institute and NCSU facilities department. His colleagues speak of him in the highest regard, emphasizing his friendly attitude, integrity, and genuine passion for his work and the people he worked with. His ability to build strong relationships and communicate effectively with others made him a trusted colleague in the workplace. His astute decision-making and keen intuition guided the projects he worked on to great success. But more importantly, the friends he worked with described him as one of the funniest, smartest, and most intuitive individuals they had the privilege of knowing.
Jimmy was a devoted family man who found joy and fulfillment in his role as a husband and father. Married for forty years, Jimmy shared a deep and enduring bond with his wife, Cheryl. Together they built a foundation of love, trust, and mutual respect that served as the cornerstone of their family life. Jimmy took immense pride in his two sons, Jason and Connor, and served as a supportive and guiding figure in their lives. He was always there for them offering wisdom and support even during some of their toughest challenges, Jimmy's unwavering love, support, and hope were a source of strength for his family. His legacy of love, commitment, and devotion will continue to resonate within his family.
Jimmy believed his legacy would continue through the many lives he impacted, and the friends that he made, the joy for life he displayed and boundless love he shared. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered for his kindness, and though he may no longer walk among us, Jimmy's spirit lives on in the memories shared by loved ones and in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to experience his love, kindness, and laughter. His legacy of love, support, and unwavering optimism will continue to inspire and uplift others.
In remembrance of Jimmy’s battle with cancer the family suggest that donation be made to the V foundation WWW.V.org. or a charity of personal choice in lieu of flowers.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, April 28, 2024 at 3:00 PM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Rd, Cary, NC 27511. A reception will follow the celebration of life in the reception hall at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home.
