Born November 14, 1931, in Algonac, St. Clair County, Michigan. He lived with his parents, Murel and Betty Lown in Michigan until he joined the US Navy. Jack led a life marked by service, loyalty and a great sense of humor.
On September 29, 1951, in the state of Mississippi, Jack married his wife, Annie V., whom he met in Memphis, Tennessee. Their union was blessed with children, grand children and great-grand children.
Jack honorably served his nation in the US Navy from 1951 until his retirement in 1972.
Throughout his military career, he demonstrated unwavering commitment and bravery aboard the aircraft carriers; USS FDR, USS Intrepid, USS Forrestal, USS Kitty Hawk, USS Ticonderoga and USS Midway. Following his distinguished military tenure, Jack embarked on a second career in the field of computer programming with EDS, from which he retired after many years of dedicated service.
Known for his infectious laugh and a penchant for sharing jokes, Jack could light up any room. He shared an extraordinary connection with his canine companions and due to the treats he generously dispensed, he was affectionately known as the “cookie man”. He found joy in the simple pleasure of ice cream, a tradition he relished.
Jack's memory will be cherished by his devoted wife of over seventy-two years; his son David J. Lown and wife, Rhonda L. Lown, his daughter Margaret E Lown and husband, Charles J, Julian; his grandchildren, Daniel Lown, Derek Lown, Jennifer Tart, and Matthew Fuller; His great-grandchildren Brannon Lown, Samantha Lown, Ava Sealy, Reuben Tart and Ezekiel Tart, and his sister Ann Kruse . He now joins his late parents and his siblings, Robert, Gerald, George, and Enid Cooley and Jimmy Kelly, who preceded him in death.
A graveside service to honor and commemorate Jack's life will be held at the DFW Memorial Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Texas to be held at a later date. The family invites you to join them in remembrance of a life well lived.
