Frances Dixon Jones, 90, of Cary, NC, rose to Heaven and found her eternal home in the presence of her Lord and Savior on January 25, 2022. She was born on January 16, 1932 in Greenville, NC to the late Eben Howell Dixon and Alma Christelle Brady.
Frances graduated from Henderson High School and Duke University School of Nursing and thus began her love affair with Duke basketball, which continued through the rest of her life. Alongside her husband Bill, a pediatrician, she settled in to her love for nursing in any setting and was a natural caregiver for many, including her five children and twelve grandchildren.
Frances is predeceased by her precious granddaughter Jennifer Grace Page, her husband Dr. William Jones, sons-in-law Jeff Boucher and Phil Melvin and most recently her great grandson, sweet baby Flint Anderson Olive. Left to cherish her memory are her children Will Jones (Mary), Kathy Melvin, Dino Page (Gregg), Tommy Jones (Jay) of Greensboro and Jenny Boucher of Cary. She is also survived by her grandchildren Hannah Mosby (Chad) of Roanoke, VA, Bradley Jones (Margot) of Raleigh, Jackie Pope (Katie) of Hillsborough, Michael Page (Stephanie) of Charlotte, Wade Olive (Sandie) of Raleigh, Josh Jones of Greensboro, Tommy Carter of Raleigh, Bekah Froelich (Ben) of Charlotte, Kaitlyn Melvin of Lillington, Evan and Landon Boucher of Cary, as well as 8 great grandchildren and her lone surviving brother-in-law Dewey Wells of Blowing Rock, NC.
Frances (also known as the beloved Mama J by many) will be joyfully remembered for her love of Jesus Christ and His word, her large family, a multitude of friends, Greenwood Forest Baptist Church community, Bible Study Fellowship, gardening, tennis and all sports in general, nursing, the river, the beach, cooking, volunteer opportunities, laughter and a good joke!
Our family would like to express our deep gratitude for the love and care provided by her amazing group of caregivers and her Transitions Lifecare team.
A celebration of Frances’s life will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Greenwood Forest Baptist Church. The family will have a private burial prior to the service.
