Erma Mae Holleman (White), age 94 of Holly Springs, NC in Wake County, went to be with the Lord early Saturday, April 25, 2020. As a child she lived in prospect Hill with her parents Viola and Robert White.
Erma was a devoted and loving mother, wife, grandmother, friend, and part of many people's lives on a daily basis and everything you could ever want in a close friend.
She is survived by her granddaughters, Stephanie Nugent (Ricky) and Shelia Gardner (Jamie); grandson, Bryan Dean; great grandson, Cade Gardner; great granddaughters, Lauren Nugent and Ashley Lauffer; great-great grandkids, Nasir Cameron, Braylen Cameron, Zane Cameron, Sophia Nugent and Nathan Nugent, Evony Nelson (Zeb) who she loved and treated like a son, and many family and friends who she loved so much.
She is preceded in death by her beautiful daughters, Joyce Holleman Pittman and Ann Dean; husband, Dan Holleman; parents, Viola and Robert White; grandson, Travis Nugent; sister, Elizabeth (Lib) Riggs; and brother, Raymond White.
Many times where you saw Joyce, Erma was not far away. Erma was a strong independent woman until the end; one who could get up in a pickup truck by herself better than most young people and quick to tell you "I can do it" if you tried to assist. For many years, she was a regular on Thursday night gospel singings at Ron's Barn where you could find her with a smile on her face and her hand hitting her knee to the beat of the music.
Many funny stories can be told about times spent with Erma, all the yearly Christmas parties in her decorated home, shopping trips where she and Joyce and friends piled into Joyce's vehicle on a Saturday and drove to the ends of the earth for an “all day” shopping trip and dinner on the way home.
At a younger age she baked and decorate beautiful cakes to sell. At that time period she also cooked weekly Sunday family meals for all of her family and they would eat until they were “about to pop” but she would always insist that they eat some more. You were never hungry at her house. She will be severely missed here but she had to have one more shopping trip with Joyce.
Before Erma passed away, she requested a horse and carriage ride when her time came so she will ride in a carriage to the cemetery and will be laid to rest on May 2, 2020 at Greenlawn Cemetery in Fuquay Varina at a private service.
Erma loved flowers but she also loved donating to the Wounded Warriors Project since her husband was in the war. If you choose to send flowers she would love them or if choose to honor her by donating to the Wounded Warriors she would love that too.
