Alex was born in London, Ontario, Canada on August 3, 1999 to David Jack Maradyn and Julie Patricia Maradyn. He lived in Brussels Belgium and Wake Forest, North Carolina before settling in Raleigh, North Carolina in 2018.
He completed schooling at Wake Forest Middle School and Wake Forest High School before deciding to further his education at Wake Technical Community College in Raleigh, North Carolina. Alex loved playing football, and in his early years played linebacker for the Franklinton Lions and for the Wake Forest Highschool JV Cougars. Alex was working towards his Associates Degree in Heating and Ventilation (HVAC) at the time of his passing. While attending college, he worked at the Yard House in North Hills as a barback and a busser. He loved his job and enjoyed working with his co-workers. Prior to working at the Yard House, he worked at PDQ, Jersey Mike's Subs and The Real McCoys, all in Wake Forest, North Carolina.
Alex loved animals. From new puppy Stevie Nicks and first dog Daisy Mae to hamsters (Tammy), tarantulas, fish, and a frog (Spiky), Alex had pets throughout his life. Alex's favorite color was red. He always had an envious collection of red sneakers and shoes at his disposal. He had a very good fashion sense, and always strived to express this every single day. Alex loved going shopping with his Mom and always looked forward to seeing his grandparents when they visited him in North Carolina. Alex loved to play video games; XBox, PlayStation, and PC. He spent quality time immersed in the latest games and fostered many friendships during countless hours of playing online. Alex had a love of music, of many different genres, which evolved over the years. Alex was always an avid collector, from action figures to sports cards to comic books to Funko Pops, he always had a passion he was focused on. He was a very kind and gentle person, always going the extra mile to help someone out or make sure they got what they needed, giving up his own comfort at times. Alex had a great sense of humor and always had a smile on his face regardless of the situation or circumstance. Alex would tell a story of an event rather than complain. He could light up a room with his presence.
He is survived by his partner Catherine (Cat) Wolford of Raleigh, North Carolina; mother Julie Maradyn and partner Todd Arpa of Oshawa, Ontario, Canada; father David Maradyn and wife Lisa of Newport, Rhode Island; grandparents Reg and Maggie Colborne of Port Hope, Ontario, Canada; step-brother Thomas Reeder and wife Taylor of Kansas City, Missouri; step-sister Lt.
