Wayne Gentry

Wayne was born on April 26, 1949 in Cartersville, GA, son of Willis Gentry and Sally Ruth Womack Gentry.

Wayne retired from Lockheed Martin after thirty plus years of dedicated employment. After his retirement with Lockheed, he worked for the City of Cartersville Water Department for ten years. He was a true and faithful servant of the Lord and a proud member of Watters Rd. Church of God. He was a jack of all trades, who loved to work with his hands and fix anything you put in front of him. In his younger years, he enjoyed drag racing and hunting. The light of his world was spending quality time with his loving wife of fifty-five years, Barbara Waters Gentry, his children and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Wayne is preceded in death by his father, Willis Gentry; sisters, Evelyn Morris and Jeanette Dover; brother, Bobby Gentry, Sr.

Survivors include his mother, Sally Ruth Gentry; wife, Barbara Gentry; daughters, Valarie (Benny) Brittian and Yvette (Chuck) Moore; grandchildren, Erica (Christian) Smith, Cassie Moore and Noah Welch, Caiden Moore; great-grandchildren, Addison Smith and Averie Smith; sisters, Willene (Billy) Ward and Carol Sue (Ray) Sullivan; special niece, Karen Conlon; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 17th of February, 2023 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Rob Miller and Rev. Doyle Waters officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Taylorsville Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are Terry Waters, Jerry Waters, Josh Holley, Larry Patterson, Jr., Marvin Waters and Ken Bagley.

Serving as an honorary pallbearer is Lance Gentry.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock in the evening until seven on Thursday, the 16th of February, 2023 at Owen Funeral Home.
