Born on January 15, 1954, Steve was the beloved son of the late Ernest Williams Duffey and Winnifred Clyde Hoyt Duffey. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Steve’s life was one filled with love, laughter, hard work, and a deep devotion to his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Rebecca Ann Duffey; daughter, Christy Sneed (Joseph); son, Lee Duffey (Ashley); and his cherished grandchildren: Parker Sneed, Cathryn Sneed, Chase Duffey, and Sara Duffey. He also leaves behind his faithful four-legged companion, Clyde, a Pit/Dachshund mix who never left his side.
Steve was a proud graduate of Morrow High School and attended DeKalb Technical College. He retired after more than 30 years of dedicated service with Schindler Elevator and was a proud member of the International Union of Elevator Constructors.
Known for his ability to fix just about anything, Steve was a man who loved to work with his hands—especially in his yard. He was also a classic car enthusiast, with a deep love for his 1959 El Camino, 1966 Chevy Pickup, and 1996 Chevy Impala. A passionate NASCAR fan, he held a special admiration for Dale Earnhardt.
Steve had a crude sense of humor, always ready with a joke and a quick wit that could make anyone laugh. He was lovingly known as "Pawpaw" by his grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of his life. There was nothing he loved more than being with them, and he made sure they always knew how deeply he cared.
A receiving of family and friends for Stephen will be held Thursday, April 17, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Dr, Cartersville, Georgia 30120.
