She is survived by her son and daughter in law Kenny and Susette Darnell of Emerson, grandsons Will Darnell of Douglasville, Ga and Jake Darnell of Houston, Tx. Special nieces Linda McCoy and Mardean Deshazo, and several nieces and nephews.
She was a graduate of Cartersville High School. She retired in 1992 to spend time with her precious grandsons that she was so proud of.
Sadie was a beautiful lady with gentle ways. She loved her family with all her heart and was so very proud of the musical and artistic talents and abilities of her children and grandsons.
But, above all, she loved the Lord. She was saved at a young age and was a lifetime faithful member of Faith Methodist Church. She and Charles worked in the Manna Pantry ministry where she wrote Bible verses on the grocery bags each week. She was also a faithful volunteer at the Community Church Shop.
Sadie and Charles were very active in their retirement years. They enjoyed traveling with family and friends, attending camp meeting services at Indian Springs, and were very active in the American Legion where she served as an officer in the ladies’ auxiliary. She proudly sold Poppys to raise money for veteran causes.
In the years following the tragic loss of their daughter Sandra in 1976, Sadie became a very brave spokesperson for Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Through her sadness and heartbreak, she was determined to do all she could to end drunk driving and save lives.
The family would like to thank her wonderful caregivers for the last two years, Becky Hardin, Mary Williams and the staff at Townsend Health & Rehab.
Visitation will be held Monday at Owen funeral home October 16th 5-7 PM. A celebration of life service will be conducted at the Owen Funeral Home chapel on Tuesday October 17th at 11:00 am. Internment will immediately follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
