Ruth Ann Payne (Bryson) Rutledge

Ruth Ann Payne (Bryson) Rutledge – Age 79, of Cartersville, GA passed away at home surrounded by family on December 14, 2024. She was born on January 22, 1945, to the late Carl and Beatrice Sullivan Payne. Ruth was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Bryson, Sr. and brothers, James Ray Payne and Donald Payne.

She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Felton David Rutledge; daughter, Carla Teems ( Kyle); son, Donald Bryson (Regina), Jr.; sister, Martha Payne; step-son, Terry Rutledge (Kay); step-daughter, Tina Rutledge; grandchildren, Madeline Bolton (Josh), Clark Teems (Gabrielle), Sydney Ott (Dr. Madison Ott) and Tate Bryson; step-grandchildren, Chase Rutledge, Nathan Duke and Christopher Burkhalter; great-grandchildren, Fitz Bolton, Tinsley Bolton and Sofia Teems; and special family friend, Wendell Coninie.

Ruth was a graduate of Cartersville High School. She retired after 34 years as a procurement officer with the Georgia Department of Transportation. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Ruth was a sacrificial mother, an honorable wife, and made sure her family came first. She was always bright, happy, and positive. Ruth enjoyed shopping, cooking, hosting gatherings, and traveling the world with Felton and Madeline.

Gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, beginning at 11:00 am with a Celebration of Ruth’s Life at 1pm at Owen Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family would like to give special appreciation to Ruth’s caregivers, April Smith, Faith Burke, Janice Wheeler, Julie Edwards, Andre Ward, Sherri Guerra, and Molly Collins, as well as Dr. Roger Hiser and Christi Freeman, NP.
