Mr. Tatum was born February 8, 1927 in Bartow County, Georgia, son of the late C.B. Tatum and Lillie Teague Tatum. He was a graduate of Cass High School where he was Valedictorian. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church and was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Army. Prior to retirement, Mr. Tatum was a Public Educator having taught school at Cass High School and Pickens Area Vocational Technical School. He and his wife also owned and operated Tatum Service Company for 20 years. He was an avid fisherman, loved camping and he; along with his wife, were devoted Braves fans. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Angela Denise Tatum and by 15 sisters & brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Glenese Allen Tatum; a daughter & son-in-law, Mary Beth & Brent Perry; a son & daughter-in-law, Allen & Judy Tatum; a special niece, Deborah Royer; grandchildren, Justin Tatum, Joseph Tatum, Taylor Perry, Lauran Tatum, Hannah Stewart, Ethan Perry, Devin Royer; great-grandchildren, Amy Tatum and Lottie Stewart; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon January 26th at 3:30 P.M. in the Owen Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Don Hattaway officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Owen Funeral Home.
Pallbearers include Ethan Perry, Taylor Perry, Justin Tatum, Joe Tatum, Eddie McMicken, William Tatum, Mike Kown and Rufus Cantrell.
