You r family is in my prayers.  Randy was so special.

Sharon and family - Charlie and I are heartbroken about Randy’s illness and passing. He was such a bighearted guy, and we valued his friendship so much. We will cherish the memories of times spent with you guys and trips we experienced together.  Please know we love you and will help in any way possible.

Sharon I am so sorry about Randy. I only met him once when you guys went through Knoxville on your way home to Georgia.  It was at the Applebee's.  He seemed like a very special person.Jason and I send our prayers and love to you and your family. 
 

Our sincere sympathies for your loss. I so enjoyed playing golf with Randy. I am holding up my birdie shot glass in his memory as I know he is hitting away on those fairways in heaven and listening to his favorite songs.

Randy was a great
supporter of Berry’s teacher education program, Rome middle school’s soccer program and its coach- me. Steven Bell. 

I am so sorry to hear that Randy is no lonhrr with us.  HE will be remembered as a precious friend, Randy did so much for his students, touched many lives.   He has earned his place with  Our Heavenly Father.  .Sharon and the children, grandchildren willl remain in my prayers.

I am so sorry to Dr. Phillips’  family. He meant the world to his “band family” and he will be missed beyond measure. He was a teacher, mentor, a critic and a true friend to so many students over the courses of his life. He touched so very many lives in his tenure of service. He will never be forgotten. Thank you to his wife and children for allowing the rest of us to see him as a second  dad for so many years. You are appreciated by a great deal of us. To Mr, Philipps (it just always goes there in my head), the tears a cry today are for me alone. You are resting in the arms of God and all of just wish we were there too. Say hi to mom and dad for me.

I am so sorry for the loss of your father. I never met him personally, but I am sure our paths crossed over the years due to our mutual love of music and multiple mutual friends. Please know he left a lasting legacy behind! Take comfort in the fact that his footprint will be on this earth for generations to come.  With love and hugs, Treva.

Randy was a wonderful coworker. He was always kind, polite, and caring to all around him. His daughter Wendy is an outstanding teacher. My thoughts and prayers will be with the family.

Dr. Phillips took a chance and hired me at Rome Middle over 21 years ago. He was always good to me, and he was an avid supporter of our PE department, athletic teams and fine arts programs. I will always be thankful for him. Until we meet again… May God bless his memory.

Sharon, I am so sorry for your loss. I didn’t know your husband but from all of the  sweet notes he was a wonderful man. Praying you and your family find peace and comfort knowing he is healed and rejoicing with his Heavenly Father. Praying you feel God’s loving embrace  surrounding you in the days and weeks to come. Dr. Phillips was one of the first teachers I met when our family moved back to Rome.  He was always kind and loving as a teacher.  As I later became an educator, I had the privilege of having him as a colleague, a mentor, and most importantly, my friend.  He was someone I could always turn to for guidance and direction in my career.  He was an amazing teacher, administrator, musician, and man.  Heaven is a little sweeter with him there.  I will miss his love, his guidance, and his hugs.  All of the family is in my prayers. 

I have been privileged to have known Randy and Sharon since our early years of teaching music together in Rome City Schools.  Literally, brought together by music.  In the spring semester of 1980, Randy was assigned to me as a student intern from Berry College at West Rome Junior High School. I consider it a blessing our paths met. Almost instantly, Shenley and I received him into our family! By the end of that term, he was hired to replace me as I moved to the High School. Randy was incredibly talented with a special kindness and loving spirit which served him and his students well throughout his career.  He made my job so much easier as we worked together. Randy was a loving husband and father, faithful friend, successful band director, educational leader and administrator. I was honored to serve in their wedding as best man.  Later, I was privileged have the opportunity to teach Brandon and Wendy in band at Rome High School.  

Sweet sweet memories….  West Rome Junior High….  Randy was such a blessing to me and my daughter, Kinga, when we first moved back to Rome in 1985 as I accepted the job as school secretary and had the honor and privilege to work with Randy.   His kindness and compassion were endless as he cheerfully encouraged those around him.   He loved life.     Heaven was perfect before Randy arrived but it was even better  when he stepped into God’s presence.  I’m sure God said, “Welcome home, son.  You can make beautiful music here!”  He will be missed!

I taught in the Music Dept. at Berry when Randy was a student there. Randy was  an excellent student and a great guy. He worked hard and was just a pleasure to have around. When we moved into the Ford Buildings, he moved the music studios and did a great job. I never changed anything in my studio. I am so sorry. 

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of brother Randy Phillips. I was fortunate to know him in college and was my roommate, fraternity brother and colleague I came to know Randy during my time at Berry. He was a warm, spirited person who loved his family and was an excellent teacher and administrator. I enjoyed his company when we would get together at events such as reunions and other events that would bring us together at Berry and talk about old times. He was an excellent musician and loved performing (tuba and contra bass trombone) and I’ll miss him. Thoughts and prayers go to his family. 

Sharon and family,  I am so sorry to hear this.  May God wrap his arms around you during this difficult time.  May beautiful memories sustain you and the love you all have for your family carry you through this time.  

Sharon and Family, my heart breaks for you. Randy was one of the finest educators I have ever known. I am thankful he took a chance on me as a first year teacher and I learned so much from him as his assistant at Cass High School.  I was later fortunate to have him as one of my school principals.  I know how much he loved his family and you all are in my thoughts and prayers. 

I'm so sad about Randy's passing. He was always so kind and welcoming to me. He was genuinely concerned about how I was doing. I know he will be greatly missed by many, many people. I'm sure he had a great impact all those people too. He definitely did on me. I will continue in prayer for Sharon and the children and grandchildren and even little Jewel...his gran doggie. She adored him too. 

Sharon and family, my heart is broken at the news of the loss of Randy! The Goolsby’s are just one of many, many families who were instructed, mentored, encouraged, and befriended with incredible blessings from Randy over the years. His amazing personality, his sense of humor, his kind words of encouragement, and his patience with others were unmatched! Sharon I am so sorry for your loss.  Randy was a special guy and he brought so much joy with his music. He made the Northwest Georgia  Christmas musical wonderful. He was always so kind as a choir director for me and others. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. 

My heart breaks for you Sharon and your family. But I know your faith and hope are secure. I always respected Randy as an administrator when I first started as a special needs social worker for NWGA RESA in the BCSS. Later when Randy was about to take over the leadership role at East Central, he interviewed me when I applied to be a school counselor. I would have loved to work for him but I was still a few months from graduating. He gave me words of wisdom and encouragement at that time. But I went on to work with Sharon and got to know their children thru being the counselor at WES. A beautiful, sweet and very talented family. I’m so very sorry for your loss and pain.



The loss of a wonder man.  It was a privilege to serve with Randy at Cassville Baptist Church where Randy was a faithful member, leader and minister of music for many years.  Words that come to mind as I remember him are faithful, dependable, solid, leader, wise and family.  May God grant you peace as you travel through this time of loss and sorrow.

Randy was a true gem, a son of Christ. I have known Randy since I was 21 years old, just a kid coming out of college as I began my teaching journey. He was a true leader who had compassion for us new teachers, and went out of his way to guide us in the right direction. All these years later Randy would still ask how things were going, would always give the best advice, and remained a true friend. Sharon, Wendy, and the rest of the family, you will remain in my thoughts and prayers. I am so sorry for your loss. Randy was the best of the best! 

Lydia and I have so much love and appreciation for this family. Our hearts are broken. We are praying for comfort and strength for Sharon and the family. Randy's faith and love was real and special.

Randy was one of my first ever students at Berry College.  He was a great student, and I watched with pride as his career flourished as a band director and school administrator.  He was active as a tuba player and did many high school half time drills for bands in the area.  Always jovial and fun to be with he became a colleague.  He was a devoted husband to Sharon and a great family man.  We will all miss him.

If I were asked who gives the best HUGS, other than my grandchildren’s hugs, my very favorite hugger was Randy.  When we would run up upon each other I’d be excited that he was going to give me one of his big Teddy bear hugs.   He always had a hug and a smile.   My love to Sharon and all the family at the passing of this wonderful, wonderful man.  

My heart breaks for Randy’s family. He was welcomed with open arms in Heaven today. Many, many prayers have gone up for all of the family today. May peace, comfort, and the love of Christ be with you all in the coming days, weeks, and months.  Randy was a kind, gentle man. He will be missed by many.  Rest in peace.

We have lost a  part of  our church family. Randy will be missed but we will have our memories of him.
