Mary Catherine Lewis

Mary Catherine “Sister” Teems Lewis, age 85 of Cartersville, GA passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024. She was born in Trion, GA on December 30, 1938 to Louis Felton Teems and Mable Helen Upthegrove Teems.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, George Thomas Lewis; father, Louis Teems; Mother, Helen Teems Putnam (Harvey); brother, Bobby Teems, Dewey Teems, and Johnny Teems; sister, Marie “Chuck” Teems. She is survived by her sons, Tommy Lewis and Jasone Lewis (Beth), daughters; Cindy Pruitt (Tracy) and Tami Lewis, grandchildren; Tabitha Breeden, Magan Elizabeth Lackey (Anthony), Jacob Pruitt and Sean Lewis, great grandchildren; Kaiden Breeden and Jonathan Lackey; brother, Buddy Teems (Lynda), Darryl Teems (Terri, and their son Camden); and several nieces and nephews.

Mary “Sister” was known for her love of babies, she raised many babies. She called everyone’s baby, her baby, if they were in her care. She was a caregiver and a hard worker! She was an excellent southern cook known for her fried chicken, biscuits, and fudge. Some called her mother goose. She was simple in her own way. She loves the Lord, and she loves her family with her whole heart. She loved her childhood growing up in Summerville. She loved her time being a band mom, hauling band members around in her giant station wagon. Her grandchildren and family were her life.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 13, 2024 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Rodney Kennedy officiating. The interment will follow the service at The Church of God of the Union Assembly Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Owen Funeral Home on Saturday, July 13, 2024 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
