Marjorie Greenway Hood

Born in Atco, January 5, 1926, she was the oldest child of Ernest and Rosa Greenway.

She was a faithful member of Kingston Baptist Church for many years. She was also a member of Kingston Woman’s History Club. She retired from the Bartow County School System, working at Kingston Elementary School as a librarian, office secretary and teacher’s aide.

She was married to the late Sam Hood, Sr., June 11, 1944, and was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother Morace Greenway; and her sons, Donald James Hood, Robert E. Hood and Thomas G. Hood; and a granddaughter Kathryn Hood.

Survivors include her brother, Gene Greenway and his wife Mary Lou of Cartersville, daughter, Phyllis Casey and her husband Ronald of Kingston, son, Sam Hood, Jr. and his wife Beth of Cartersville, daughter, Rosemary Winn and her husband Jim of Decatur and niece, Stacey Bucy.

Grandchildren include Tara and Reggie Padgett, Nicole and Jeremy Shelton, Kelly and Chris Garcia, Arian, Jay and Morgan Winn. Great-grandchildren include Garrett and Tyler Shelton, Anna Padgett and Bennett, Caitlyn and Ella Garcia and special friend Mrs. Ellen Towe.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at Kingston Baptist Church with Rev. Leon Smith and Rev. Bill Cline officiating.

Burial will follow in Kingston Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jay Winn, Reggie Padgett, Jeremy Shelton, Chris Garcia, Scott Panter, Gary Fisher and Tommy Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of Kingston Baptist Church.
