He was born April 20, 1930 in Cypress, Illinois. He was the son of the Late George and Cleta Hickom.
He was mentor, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather, preacher, teacher, craftsman, explorer, storyteller, best friend and someone who loved the Lord with his whole body and soul.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Delores Hickom and one grandchild Travis Allen Hickom.
He is survived by his six children. Steve M Hickom (Bridgette), Douglas M Hickom (Josie), Dianna D Shackleford (Craig), Gloria H Raulerson, Scott E Hickom (Cindy), and Serena B Sanford (Grady). Grandchildren, Shari Fulmer, Cindi Gravely, Rebecca Hickom, Stephanie Testut, Matthew Hickom, Carla Clark, Jessica Rahm, Eric Edmondson, Jennifer Goodwin, Micheal Raulerson, Jillian Caldwell, Tyler Hickom, Troy Hickom, Victoria Hickom and Benjamin Nations, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
A funeral service will be conducted at Sam Jones Memorial United Methodist Church Saturday, May 25th, 2019 at three o’clock in the afternoon. Interment will follow the service at Sunset Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from one o’clock in the afternoon until the service hour at Sam Jones Memorial United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers it was his wish for memorial donations be made to the Mission Team at Sam Jones Memorial United Methodist Church. These can be sent to the church directly and labeled mission team.
