after eighty wonderful years of life. He was the son of the late Charlie and Mary Ella Parker Tidwell.
Gordon "G" or "Paw" (as he is most commonly referred to) spent the majority of his career with General Motors, followed by starting Tidwell's Lawn Care, after his retirement. He was a long-time devout member of Young Street Baptist Church and was always well known in the community as the person you could bring anything to and it would return "fixed". He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, thinker, tinkerer and all around friend to whoever crossed his path. He always had a keen sense of humor and was rarely found without a cup of coffee or some candies or goodies in his shirt pocket. He lived his days worshiping our Lord, loving his family, spoiling his grandchildren and always slipping in a joke at the perfect time. You could catch our Paw working at Taco N Subs, cutting grass, or driving granny around town to shop. He was the jokester of the Tidwell family and you might find his teeth in the pickle jar. Most of all, Paw loved and cherished every relationship.
He is preceded in death by his siblings, Jack Tidwell, Cliffie Owens, Mamie Worley and Ann Hinton.
Survivors include his loving wife of sixty-one years, Joan Poston Tidwell; children, Cissy (Robert) Strickland, Lee (Jan) Tidwell, Parker (Johna) Tidwell, B.J. (Courtney) Poston and Jason Poston; sisters, Ella Samson, Frances Tidwell and Reba (Marvin) Cordell; grandchildren, Knox (Kristen) Strickland, Joe (Andrea) Strickland, Tillery (Landon) Rice, Grant Tidwell (Ellie Williams), Burt Michael Tidwell (Madeline Drummond), Chloe Tidwell (Jack Benefield), Darci Tidwell, Celeste Greene and Lauren Strickland; great-grandchildren, Eli Strickland, Tucker Poston and Charlotte Strickland; several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Sunday the 21st of May, 2023 in the chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Cabe, Rev. Donald Collum and Rev. Derrick Poston officiating. Interment will immediately follow at Knox Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
