Mr. George Roberson, 83, of Cartersville, GA, passed away on October 1, 2024. Born in Bartow County, GA, on September 24, 1941, he was the son of the late Cecil and Sallie Waters Roberson. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-six years, Mary Frances Roberson; his son, Timothy Earl Roberson; four brothers, W.C., Bobby, Kenneth, and Melvin Roberson; and one sister, Ruth Chapell.
George is survived by his daughters, Wanda Roaderick (Walter) and Jan Ivey (Mike); four grandchildren, Patrick Lambert (Hannah), Nick Lambert (Haven), Ava Ivey, and Michael Ivey Jr.; and five great-grandchildren, Finleigh, Henry, Holt, Gus Lambert, and Bryson Franklin, with another Lambert on the way. He is also survived by his brother, Ricky Roberson (Brenda); five sisters, Marylee Cline, Sylvia Robinson, Sheila Reynolds, Donna Butler (Tommy), and Shirley Gentry (Jackie); as well as a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A proud veteran, George served in the United States Army Reserves for nine years. He dedicated forty years to his role as Operations Manager at Mohawk Industries in Cartersville, retiring in 2008. Additionally, he owned Cartersville Braiding for over thirty years. Even in retirement, George maintained his strong work ethic by starting a lawn care and rental property business.
A devoted deacon at Oak Grove Baptist Church for 44 years, George was passionate about serving his church and its members. He lived a selfless life rooted in his Christian faith, consistently showing the love of God to those around him. His greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends; they were the heart of his existence, and every moment shared with them was his most treasured gift.
The family will receive friends Friday, October 4, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Owen Funeral Home, 12 Collins Dr, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. A funeral service will take place Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM, 12 Collins Dr, Cartersville, Georgia 30120. A burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, 790 Indian Mound Rd, Cartersville, Georgia 30120.
