Deborah Lynne Perkerson, fondly known as Debbie, passed away on April 1, 2025 in Cartersville, GA, at the age of 63. She was born on October 8, 1961, in Atlanta, Georgia, to Carol Lewis and Terrell Perkerson.
Debbie was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Ovaleen Lewis and Ernestine Perkerson, as well as her in-laws, Robert and Diane Collins, with whom she shared a special bond.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Stephen Scott Collins; her beloved daughter, Dawn Michelle Clark (Dustan); her son, Christopher Collins; her cherished grandchildren, Dean and Demi Clark; her mother and stepfather, Carol Lowe (Larry); her sister, Renee Lowe (Jonathan Hiott); niece, Kitai Hiott; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Debbie was a free spirit who forged her own path in life. Known for her "rock star" vitality, she was the life of the party and could always be counted on for fun and laughter. While she lived with a vibrant energy, she also enjoyed the quiet pleasures of home, secretly indulging in baking and cooking for her loved ones.
A true hippie at heart, Debbie loved the beach—even though she never quite mastered swimming. Her heart beat to the rhythm of music, particularly the classic tunes of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Tom Petty and Elvis Presley which brought her joy. Debbie’s green thumb flourished in her garden, where she lovingly tended to azaleas and rose bushes. She was also known for her thoughtfulness, always ensuring that snacks and drinks were available for the neighborhood children.
Debbie had an unparalleled ability to make others feel good. She will be remembered for her kindness, her joy-filled spirit, and her love of life.
A memorial service to celebrate Debbie’s life will be held on April 18, 2025 at 7pm at Owen Funeral Home with a gathering of family and friends beginning at 5pm.
Debbie, You will be missed, but your spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew you.
