Charles Alton Waits

Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Quinnie Waits; and beloved sisters Mary Louise “Lucy” Waits and Gladys Rakestraw. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan Clegg Waits; a son, Charles (Lillian) Waits; a daughter, Alisia (Wayne) West; grandchildren, Rachel Nicole (Erik) Pabst; Steven C. (Dezarae) Waits, Hunter West, Lacey West, great-grandchildren Nathan Waits-Varljen, and Nora Pabst. His family was his greatest joy, and he cherished each one dearly. Charles is also survived by sisters Hazel Thomason, Powder Springs; Joyce Bankston, Conyers; brothers William E “Gene” Waits, Rockmart; James L (Jennifer) “Jake” Waits, Powder Springs; plus a large number of nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at 2:30 PM on Saturday November 16, 2024, in the Chapel of Owen Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Lobello officiating. The interment will follow at Sunset Memory Garden. The family will receive friends prior to the Celebration of Life from 1:00 PM until 2:30 PM at the funeral Home.

Charles attended the John McEachern School grades 1-12, graduating in 1960. He was a licensed Realtor and Insurance Agent by the State of Georgia. He was employed by Lockheed-Georgia Company for 25 years, and left there to become a business owner of Etowah Office Products, Inc in Cartersville, and four Anytime Fitness franchises in Paulding and Cobb Counties. He was also the financial backer and mentor of a number of other business enterprises over the years.
