Carter was born on October 27, 1954 in Eatonton, GA, son of the late James H. Shaw, Jr. and Hilda Henley Shaw.
He graduated from North Springs High School, Atlanta, GA in 1972. He attended Georgia Southern in Statesboro, GA. He was the owner/operator of The Shaw Agency, where he sold insurance for forty-plus years. He was a loyal member of the American Legion Post 42 and a very faithful patron of The Elks Lodge 1969. His membership gave hope to many children in our Cartersville/Bartow area. In his spare time he enjoyed golf, fishing and his trivia team, “X”.
Carter is preceded in death by his brother, James H. “Hank” Shaw, III.
Survivors include his loving wife of thirty-nine years, Gale Perkins Shaw; son, Levi (Amanda Hall) Shaw; daughter, Henley (Daniel) Miller; grandchildren, Aiden Shaw, Emmerson Shaw, Collins Miller and Crew Miller; brother, Randy (Mary Anne) Shaw; sisters, Kathy (Michael) Howren and Susan Linsey; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Bobbie Perkins; brother-in-law, Danny (Vicki) Perkins; sister-in-law, Dale (Steve Teems) Watkins; many nieces and nephews; beloved cat, Hannah Shaw. His beautiful family loved him dearly.
Graveside Services will be conducted at two o’clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 29th of April, 2023 in Oak Hill Cemetery with Rev. Kenny Jacobs officiating.
A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date.
