Committed Husband, Precious Loving Father, Loyal Friend, Consistent Provider, Successful Inventor, Expert Fly Fisherman, Man of Humor and Humility, Wonderful Story Teller, Historian, and Lover of Jesus.
Bernard Butler took his last and very peaceful breath this side of heaven Friday at 7:10 A.M at home in Cartersville Georgia. No more confusion, no more pain, no more anything other than a glorious reunion with the ones he loved who have gone before and eternity with the One he trusted with his heart so long ago – Jesus.
He grew up 1 of 9 children during the depression on a small farm in Ambrose Georgia. He learned how to work hard, play hard, how to fish, how to get along with others and because he was so smart and after his time traveling the world in the Coast Guard - he graduated from Georgia Tech. He had a 3 decade career of innovation in the production and manufacturing industry where he invented a process and equipment to very quickly put a specific humidity in pressed wood at Masonite Corporation. He also helped create the production process and refine the formula for a Teflon like chemical that was used as a release agent for giant fiber board presses. After he retired, he served as a volunteer Cartersville Medical Center and was a faithful member of Rowland Springs Baptist Church.
The only thing he loved more than his family and fly fishing was his wife of 60 years Barbara. He taught us what it meant to create a legacy and environment of unconditional love. He never stopped telling us how much we were loved and no matter what was going on in our lives or what we did……that we could always come home. Lord what a legacy.
He is survived by his wife Barbara of Cartersville, son Bernie & wife Diane Butler of Franklin, TN, daughter Bonnie and Ray Bethune of Woodstock, GA, grandson Josh & Alyssa Butler of Birmingham, AL and granddaughter Emily Butler of Nashville, TN.
