Anna Maria Maxwell Floyd – Age 60 of Cartersville passed away on December 8, 2024. She was born in Floyd County to the late Timmy and Eva Maxwell. Maria is also preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Corene Floyd; brothers-in-law, Marvin Floyd, Charles Floyd, and Jerry Floyd; as well as a very special aunt, Ann Smith.
Maria is survived by her husband of 28 years, Michael L. Floyd; niece, Kim Lindsey; very special GREAT-nephew, Dixon Lindsey; cousin, Todd Smith; uncles, Don Smith and L.M. Wade; sisters-in-law, Faye Floyd and Patricia Davidson (Billy); nephews, Andy and Roger Davidson as well as several other cousins.
Maria was a graduate of Cassville High School and then graduated first in her nursing school class at Floyd College. Following graduation, Maria worked as a Registered Nurse in the ICU at Redmond Hospital and then for 25 years at the Bartow County Department of Health.
As a member of The Church of God of the Union Assembly she had a strong faith in Christ and enjoyed reading her bible. Maria found comfort in riding motorcycles, specifically, Harley Davidson’s and many trips to St. Simons Island. She never met a stranger and was instantly loved by those who met her. She had a heart of gold and always looked for positivity in everyone she encountered. Even with her passing she is still giving to others through organ donations so they may live. Maria Loved her family, but most especially the love of her life Michael and her GREAT-nephew, Dixon who was her best birthday present.
Gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 5-8pm at Owen Funeral Home. Family and friends will also gather on Friday, December 13, 2024 at 1pm with a service to Celebrate Maria’s Life at 2pm at Owen Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.
