Our beloved Father, Grandfather and friend passed away on March 18, 2016, surround by family. Albert was born in Winnemucca, Nevada, on January 11, 1930, to Ramon and Fermina Montero. Albert was raised on Leonard Cree Ranch in northwestern Humboldt County. He graduated from Humboldt County High School and California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California, with a Bachelor’s Degree in animal husbandry. He enlisted in the army during the Korean War and was proud to serve his country.
After the war he returned to an active life as a rancher at the Leonard Creek Ranch and also at the 77 Ranch in Idaho. After leaving the ranch he also owned and operated the Montero Arco in Winnemucca, Nevada.
Later on he moved to Genoa, Nevada, where he pursued new careers as a realtor and businessman. He was also a proud member of the Genoa Volunteer Fire Department. He served as a member of the National Pony Express Association and participated in the annual re-enactments.
Albert is preceded in death by his Mother and Father and brothers and sister. He is survived by his children Lisa Montero Brown (Stanley) and John Montero. He also left grandchildren Jesse Montero, Nicole Montero, Jorden Montero, Joshua Montero, Cody Brown(Dominique) and Justin Brown as well as four great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at the Genoa Volunteer Fire House, Genoa, Nevada. A reception will immediately follow at the Fire House. A celebration of life will also be held in Winnemucca sometime in May at a later date to be announced.
