Suzanne J. McFall, departed this life Tuesday, January 3, 2023. She was born December 17, 1931 to John W. Grob and Hazel Reynolds Grob, lived most of her life in Indianapolis and Carmel, Indiana. She graduated from John Strange Grade School, Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis, IN, Hanover College, Hanover, IN and Purdue University. In 1953 she was married to Darrel McFall, son of Margaret Tatlock McFall Guenther White and they have two sons, Michael C. and Brian D. McFall. She was divorced in 1981 and since that time has taught Mathematics at several Universities. She retired as a Professor of Mathematics in 1998 after 31 years of teaching mathematics. She taught math at Broad Ripple High School 1956 to 1959, Carmel High School from 1972 to 1975, IUPUI engineering Dept. from 1975 to 1981, Butler University from 1981 to 1986, Franklin College in 1986 and University of Indianapolis from 1986 to 1998. Suzanne served as a volunteer at Methodist Hospital for Sunnyside Guild for several years and helped run a free dental clinic in the 1970’s. She worked with Dr. Frank Baker of Hanover, Indiana and others in getting two historic places in Hanover, Indiana on the National Historic Register – the old Hendricks Library on Hanover College Campus and the Crowe/Garrett Home, the original old Hanover school in the town of Hanover, Indiana. She was a member of Mystic Bay Homeowners Association and enjoyed planting and tending the wild life gardens with the help of her two sons and partner Bob Stegner. She was active in PTA at Carmel, IN and worked as a volunteer at the old Carmel Library. Suzanne enjoyed traveling, hiking, gardening, life itself. She belonged to the Mathematics Association of America, Phi Mu Sorority, Sunnyside Guild, The Moonlight Garden Club, and Broadway Methodist Church and is a current member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. She enjoyed the last 29 years of her life with her partner Robert D. Stegner. She is survived by her son Mike, daughter-in-law Laurie Singer McFall, and granddaughters Lauren Elizabeth and Madeline Jane McFall and son Brian McFall and daughter-in-law Lori McFall and grandson Devin from Texas. Suzanne enjoyed life and loved teaching. At her request, her ashes will be scattered in Colorado this summer atop Mt. Evans.
