As a young man, he attended Columbus North High School where he was an All State running back on the football team. Mike held the record for most points scored for over 40 years. After high school, Mike went on to attend Ball State University. He played football at Ball State as well where he held many records during his time there. He led the conference in yards per reception and touchdowns in 1975, held the record for yards per reception in 1976, and set the record for the most career receptions in 1977. He was a graduate of Ball State University in 1979.
After college, Mike started his 44 year career in the HVAC industry with Apex Ventilating and went on to work with his brother Dave at Ace-Air/Enviro-Max. He was Vice President of Enviro-Max and was known best for his mechanical engineering and design/build expertise for the heating and air conditioning industry. He had recently retired from Enviro-Max in December 2023 to spend more time with his family.
Some of Mike’s happiest days were spent with his family and grandchildren who were his whole world. He was an avid outdoorsman and fisherman. He spent countless hours fishing and hunting and always looked forward to trips to The Farm as well as the deep-sea fishing trips with the family during vacation. Even at the end, he wished he had the time to reel in one more big bass.
