Marilyn C. Hayes

Marilyn C. Hayes, 91, of Carmel, loving wife, mother, and Nana, passed away January 29, 2019. She was born September 23, 1927 in Chicago, IL to the late Harry and Lynnette (Larson) Kruse. Survivors include her children, Susan (Jerry) McMullen, Peter (Beth) Hayes, Michael (Carolyn) Hayes, and Matthew (Brenda) Hayes; grandchildren, Lauren (Joe), Kelsey, Caitlin, Natalie (Griffin), Erin (Blake), Hannah, Tyler, Kathleen (Cort), Morgan, Heather, Amy, and Sarah; great grandchildren, A.J., Blake, Rylee, Rylan, and Ivy. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Hayes in 2005, and brother, Donald Kruse. Marilyn retired from GTE after several years in her career as an Executive Secretary. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, had volunteered at the Little Sisters of the Poor St. Augustine Home, and supported the St. Augustine Guild by attending their annual luncheons. Marilyn also enjoyed playing bridge, reading, traveling, lunching with her friends, spending time with her family, and in more recent years, following her grandchildren on Facebook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at 12:00 Noon at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 7200 Sarto Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46240 with calling at the church from 11:00 AM until time of Mass. A private burial will be held at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
