91, of Noblesville, went to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 29, 2025. A Carmelite since 1940, he was born on February 12, 1934 in Parke County, Indiana to the late Cleo S. and Estie (Samm) Tague. He was a 1953 graduate of Carmel High School. In 1996 he retired after eight years as owner/operator of Real Estate Sign Services. Previously he had worked for Heartland Industries, American Aggregates Corporation, Monarch Beverage Company, Roberts Dairy and Link-Belt.
John was a kind and generous man who always put the needs of others first. He looked to brighten the lives of others every day of his life and was quoted as saying “You’re helping me out by allowing me to help you. It is a way of life for me to do a good deed every day.”
John was a man of faith and family. He and his wife Roberta were married for over 70 years and raised their family in Carmel. As a child he was raised in the Church of Christ and years later baptized at Carmel Christian Church. He was a familiar face at White River Christian Church in Noblesville in his later years where he volunteered for over 10 years at WRCC food pantry. Over the years he volunteered and contributed to many other efforts in the Carmel community. He was a charter member of the Carmel Dad’s Club where he served in office and ran the concession stands for all sports including the high school. John had also officiated many high school football and basketball games for IHSAA for 22 years. He was proud of his Carmel roots and will be greatly missed by all who he had influenced over the years.
John was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Elizabeth Pratt and siblings, Elaine Craig, Joyce Nispel, James LeRoy Tague, Doyne Tague and Lela Jo Quillen.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Roberta (Armstrong) Tague; children, Marcia (Greg) Pratt, Denise Tague, Jon (Elida) Tague and Stephen Tague; grandchildren, Jessica Pratt, Abigail Pratt, Rachel (Alexander) Gonzalez, Daniel (Brittany) Pratt, Jon Alan Tague, Jr. and Jacob Tague as well as many nieces and nephews and a host of old dear friends.
Visitation for John will be from 11:00 am until time of services at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at White River Christian Church,1685 N. 10th Street, Noblesville. Interment follows at Carmel Cemetery,
