Audrey Schneider, 89 of Westfield, Indiana, passed away on Nov 15, 2022, after a short illness. Audrey was born on August 25, 1933, to Lillian and Clifford Koch in Cincinnati, Ohio. As class valedictorian, she graduated with honors as a registered nurse from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing in Kentucky.
While a student, she met a young patient, Robert L. Schneider and throughout his recovery they fell deeply in love. They eloped and went on to have three children, Robert A., Theresa L. Ruffner (Douglas), and Jacqueline L. Schneider. Audrey was an accomplished dancer and artist, winning awards in oil, mixed medium, and watercolors. Audrey had a steely sense of humor, keen wit, and a gentle demeanor. Family was the most important aspect of her life. She loved the times she spent with her children, grandchildren, and most recently her great grandchildren. She is survived by her children, her grandchildren Erica R. Schneider and Clayton (Yvonne) Ruffner and his three children, Myles, Tessa, and Isla, her brother William (Robin) Koch, niece Mandy (Scott) Sponholtz and their children Morgan and Ashley, and Aaron (Amanda) Koch and their daughter Helen. The friendships she cultivated throughout her life are too many to list, but those who met her loved her instantly.
A private ceremony will be held on Friday November 18 at the Nora Chapel of Leppert Mortuary & Crematory Services in Indianapolis, IN. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
