

Alice J. Leonard, age 90, of Louisville, KY, formerly of Columbus and Indianapolis, IN, passed away peacefully March 30, 2025 at her home in Louisville. She was born April 27, 1934, in Indianapolis, IN to the late Angel and Katina James.
Alice lived a life marked by grace, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Belding, son, Hap Leonard; and her beloved four grandsons, Riley Belding, Ethan Belding, Brody Leonard and Ryder Leonard. She was preceded in death by her husband of many years, Peter (2013); her sister, Dorothy Kanaris, and her brother, James A. James.
She was a graduate of Short Ridge High School and earned a BA from Western College for Women (now part of Miami University). As a passionate supporter of local history and the arts, Alice generously volunteered with the Bartholomew County Historical Society and the Columbus Area Arts Council. She also found joy, friendship, and purpose through her involvement with several local organizations, including the Monday Club, Tri Kappa, and the Garden Club. She loved and cherished the many friends she made throughout her life.
A funeral service to celebrate Alice’s life will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 3500 W. 106th Street, Carmel, IN, with visitation from 10:00 AM until time of service. Burial to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
