He was preceded in death by his mother, Clarie Brown; father, Richard Brown; and son, Kennon Brown. He was preceded also by his sisters, Annie Marie Nichols and Althena Turpin; beloved aunt Jewell Miller; and uncles Sinclair Laskett, and James Laskett.
He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Barbara Whitaker Brown. He is survived by his sisters Elizabeth Bowland, and Joyce Brown Adams; brothers Edward (Mary) Pitts, Charles Brown, and Sylvester Brown. Wilbert is also survived by his children, Bridgit Gandy (Ron) Range, Shanita (Chris) Dowdell, Michael (Carol) Williams, Christopher (Maraya) Brown, Derrick (Kalie) Williams, and Wilbert T (Brittlynn) Brown. He left behind a legacy of love for his children and 24 grandchildren. He had one great-grandson and another on the way in March. His greatest joy was his family as he enjoyed sharing time and experiences with them.
Wilbert retired from Rochester General Hospital in Rochester, NY and Southwest Regional Hospital in Fort Myers, FL as a Supervisor of Environmental Services. His hobbies included wood carving, outdoor gardening, as well as being a muscle and sports car enthusiast. He loved sports, especially NBA, NFL and boxing. He was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers Fan. He was an aficionado of all things nature and a foodie who enjoyed various dishes with excitement. Wilbert never met a stranger that didn't become a friend, as his charismatic personality attracted everyone. They were drawn to him. His positive outlook on life was truly unique. His love of nature and zest for knowledge continued to the end.
