Sadie Marie Mains, 86, of Cape Coral, passed away July 9, 2022. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on April 24, 1936. She was married to Kenneth R. Mains on February 20, 1960, and lived in Armonk, NY.
Before marrying Kenny, she enjoyed participating in beauty pageants and was crowned Miss New Orleans 1954 and Miss Louisiana 1955. She continued on to compete in the Miss Universe Pageant. Sadie also proudly served as Queen in the Bards of Bohemia Mardi Gras celebration.
After Sadie graduated from the Academy of Holy Angels, New Orleans, Louisiana, from which she received her High School Diploma, she attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana until 1955. After raising her two children, she received her Associates Degree from Westchester Community College. She was a member of Phi Delta Epsilon Sorority, and the Alpha Beta Gamma National Honor Society.
Before retiring, Sadie enjoyed a career as office and IT manager for several companies.
After retirement, she was a member of Cape Coral New Residents’ Club, Merry Mariners Boating Club, The Red Hats, The Golden Opportunities, AARP, North Castle Historical Society and was a volunteer for the Kiwanis Thrift Shop. She had a passion for Traveling, Social clubs, murder mysteries and stamp collecting.
She is survived by her children Linda Mains and Diana Wallach; her four grandchildren Carolyn Wallach, James Wallach, Emilia Alao and Arnold Alao; and her brother George (“Skipper”) Vinson. She also leaves behind her two great-grandchildren Noémie and Éloïse Albert.
The Family is having a private viewing but plans on having a Celebration of Life open to all friends at a future date yet to be determined.
