Rosario Lopez Avila

Rosario (Rose) Lopez Avila, 89, of Cape Coral, FL, formerly of Chicago, IL passed on October 7, 2022. She was born in Pampanga, Philippines on April 21, 1933. She was married to Benigno (Ben) S. Avila on December 21, 1957, for 53 years, until his death in 2011. Rosario worked in hospital food services at Frank Cuneo Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL for 15 years. She assisted at a school for handicapped children after retiring from food services at the hospital. In 1990, Rosario and her husband, Ben, moved to Cape Coral, FL where she became an assistant pre-kindergarten teacher for First Baptist Church and Faith Presbyterian Church for 10 years. She was known as “Miss Rose” and was still remembered by her former students many years later. She was a member of the Filipino American Association of Southwest Florida and Saint Andrew Catholic Church in Cape Coral. Her hobbies and passions included the Catholic Church, cooking, communicating with friends and family, and watching her favorite TV shows. Predeceased by her grandson, Jason dela Cruz, she is survived by her children, Ben (Ana) Avila, Rosela Avila, Maria Leida Avila, her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Viewing will be held on November 5, 2022 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm followed by funeral services starting at 12:00 pm with Entombment at Memory II Mausoleum at Coral Ridge Funeral Home and Cemetery, 950 Chiquita Blvd S, Cape Coral, FL 33991.
