Roger William Miller passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2022 in the comfort of his home while holding his loving wife’s hand. He was born on April 24, 1940 in Wausau, Wisconsin to Floyd and Violet Miller. He was baptized on June 16, 1940.
He married the love of his life, Sheila Henkelman on May 13, 1961. He fulfilled his childhood dream of operating heavy equipment and tractors while working for Michael‘s pipeline for over 30 years. He served as foreman and superintendent. His work took him to many of the continental United States with Sheila by his side. He truly loved his work and the people he worked with. If you know Roger, chances are you’ve heard him say one of these things at least once: “I’ve got one of those in my garage”, or “I know a guy who can help”, or “piece of cake, I can fix that”. And the truth is there wasn’t much he couldn’t fix. Roger was many things- he was a problem solver, a thinker, a doer, a philanthropist, a leader, a foreman but most important of all, he was a man of God. He exemplified God’s love every day with his generosity, kindness and compassion.
Roger is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Sheila; brother Jim (Barbara) Miller, sister Marilyn (Gary) Brandenburg, nieces and nephews Gay Brandenburg, Garrite (Pam) Brandenburg, Brian (Amy) Miller, Susan (Ted) Zeidler, Kim (Debbie) Koval, Shari (Pat) Koval Sickinger, Gregg (Mary) Koval, Carla Hutchison, Harvey Henkelmann, Jami (Eddie) Zych as well as 26 great-nieces and nephews who lovingly called him Grampie.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law Harvey and Lorraine Henkelman, sister-in-law Sue Paquette, brother-in-law Wesley Koval and niece Patti VanOoyen.
Our family would like to thank all of our friends and neighbors for their outpouring of unwavering prayer, love, support and kind acts throughout this difficult last year. Our family would also like to thank all of the medical professionals at Cape Coral Hospital and Hope hospice for their compassion and expertise while caring for Roger.
Roger’s memorial service will be held on April 13, 2022 at Abiding Love Lutheran Church. 3205 Chiquita Blvd. S., Cape Coral, FL 33914.
