his sister: Diana Adams.
Rich was born on June 18th, 1948 to Andrew and Anna Andersen in the city of Erie, Pennsylvania. After graduating from East Lake High School, he proceeded to serve his country during the Vietnam War within the Army’s 82nd Airborne, Military Intelligence Detachment.
Upon receiving an honorable discharge, he attained his Bachelors and Masters Degree from Gannon University; whereupon moving to Cape Coral, Florida in 1984, worked as a guidance counselor for the School District of Lee County for over 20 years. Rich took great pride in counseling and guiding children and teens during his tenure at Alva Elementary, Michigan Elementary, and Pine Island Elementary. Richard would continue to serve his community through his dedication to the Lion’s Club of Cape Coral for over 36 years.
Being a resident of Cape Coral for almost 40 years, Rich took great advantage of the outdoors by living an active lifestyle, and was well accomplished in golf and tennis. Likewise, Rich was an avid fisherman, and enjoyed deep sea fishing in the Gulf with his friends and family, or pulling up bass and catfish from his dock.
Even into his later years, Rich would remain active both physically and mentally by playing chess competitively, and penny poker with his friends at the VFW.
