On Thursday, October 10th 2024, surrounded by the love, care, and encouragement of her 4 children and their spouses, her 11 grandchildren, and her cherished 4 great grandchildren, Kathy Forristal passed from this world to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ for all eternity, after a very courageous battle with ALS. She is now healed!
Kathy was born in Aurora, Illinois. She moved with her family to Joliet when she was a child. Kathy lived in Joliet for many years before moving to Rochelle and then Mt Morris Illinois.
Kathy was very Artsy Fartsy! She loved crafts of all kinds. Many afghans were crocheted for weddings, baby blankets for the newborns, and a christening gown was even made for her grandbabies. Decoupage pictures and Macramé hangings adorned the walls in her home. Later in life her knitting machine became her favorite craft pastime, making hats and slippers for Christmas presents for her family.
The most fulfilling job Kathy ever had was working at The Village of Progress in Oregon, Illinois for 27 years. Kathy has always had a special place in her heart for people with special needs. As supervisor Kathy encouraged, instructed, and cheered on the consumers at ‘The Village’.
After retirement, Kathy fulfilled a lifelong dream of moving to Florida. Kathy went on many adventures in Florida, from parasailing with her granddaughter Steph, to deep sea fishing with her granddaughter Emma, and many trips to the beach to soak her feet in the Gulf of Mexico in-between. Kathy also loved floating in the pool. Or watching one of her favorite programs or movies with her dog, Loki.
Kathy really enjoyed the wonderful ladies at St Andrew’s Walking with Purpose Bible Study. She cherished them as much as they cherished her. The prayer parties and love warmed her heart.
Kathy loved her neighbor Sherry immensely, Sherry was an angel in disguise, and brought so much joy and laughter to Kathy.
Kathy joined her parents, Vincent Forristal and Betty Hester, her stepfather George Hester Sr., Her siblings, Elaine, Bill, Rosemary, and Michael, her special sister-in-law Dorie, her son-in-law Chris. And many relatives that made the journey before her.
Kathy’s greatest achievements were her four children; Dani (late Chris), Rick (Elena), Philip (Renee), and Kassi (Barry). Her 11 grandchildren; Jennilee, Amanda, Alex (Kaitlyn), Kati (Spencer), Keegan, Libby (Joey), Kyle, Steph, Reece, Kulin, and Emma. And her 5 great grandchildren; Amelia, Morrison, Hayden, Myra, and baby SugarPlum.
Kathy is also survived by her sisters; Betty, Peggy, Patty, Marybett, and Christine-Sarah, and brother George. As well as many cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Rosary with be prayed for Kathy before her Mass of Christian Burial which will be held at St Andrew Catholic Church, 2628 Del Prado Blvd S, in Cape Coral, Florida on Thursday, October 17, 2024 at 1pm. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 from 4-6pm at Coral Ridge Funeral Home; 950 Chiquita Blvd S., Cape Coral, FL 33991. There will be another Mass on November 9, 2024 at 10am at St. Rita of Cascia Catholic Church; 750 W. Old Indian Trail, Aurora, IL 60505 with Interment to follow at 11am at Mt Olivet Cemetery; 278 Ashland Ave., Aurora, IL 60505.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Kathy’s memory to; St. Andrew Catholic Church in Cape Coral; Village of Progress in Oregon, Illinois; St. Mary Catholic Church in Oregon, Illinois; or to ALS research. And of course prayers and Masses are always greatly appreciated.
